Around these parts we are lucky to have easy access to both coasts for fishing, with being situated in between the Hauraki Gulf and the Kaipara Harbour. If you need any advice about where or how to fish, feel free to come into store and speak to Larry, our expert in store fisherman.
If firearms are more your kind of thing, come in and see our gun and optic specialist, Ray, he will make sure that youre well looked after in that department.

Don grew up in rural Canada where he discovered his passion for the outdoors - it's said that no varmint was safe in those parts at that time! Don's mother was a kiwi so it was natural for Don to come to this country to check it out. To cut a long story short Don fell in love with New Zealand, particularly Northland where he even married one of the inhabitants - Joanne! These days first & foremost, Dons career is as a vet based in the Dargaville region. Dons spare time is spent out on the water - often in the Bay of Islands & 2006 has been a red letter year what with catching his first 20lb snapper & first striped marlin. "Not through a lack of effort up to this time either!" - reckons Don.
Larry owned his own sporting goods store for 15 years and is a mad keen fisherman. His knowledge of the sporting industry and his fishing skills make him a great asset to our team.
When not rostered on to work, Larry will be found targeting oversize snapper with light weight gear, or underneath his tractor, trying to fix it before the next window of fine weather to head out to the Barrier or The Mokes in his boat.
Sam is the newest member to our team, joining us in May this year. A keen fisherman and hunter, Sam likes to find a challenge in everything he attempts. In his spare time, he likes to head out on the water or camping with his young family. He also spends a lot of time on the sidelines of the footy fields, either supporting or managing local and representative teams.
Ray came on board last year as our gun expert and he is most at home locked away in our purpose built gunroom! When we do let him out from time to time, he can be found either down south hunting deer, up north chasing pheasants or ducks or out on the briny catching a feed for home. Coming from a construction background, Ray finds it easy to relate to many of our customers, and is always full of advice for those who aren’t to sure what to do, whether it be about hunting, fishing, or how to do alterations on the house!
