Graham started his working life game-keeping on a private estate in England, where his passion for all things hunting & fishing were able to be fulfilled.
Graham has hunted in several countries and whilst still keen to get a shot off every now and then, these days most of his time is spent doing what he loves best FLY FISHING.
A two time winner of the WORLD SALTWATER FLY FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP and a fulltime Trout fishing guide for the past 25years. Graham can usually be found guiding his clients, fishing with his friends or just fishing alone pretty well anywhere there is a suitable stretch of water.

A passionate surfcaster, land based game and boat fisherman.
Every year he makes a pilgrimage to 90 mile beach in the Far North for up to 3 weeks to pursue the "big ones". With a fishing buddy or two, they target the big reds and huge trevally on surfgear on the west coast accessing the areas using quads.
The beauty of the quads is they are great for traveling up the beach at hightides, and can fit everything you need on it for a comfortable days fishing. Distances traveled can be up to 160km per day, so comfort is important and speed add to fun, fun and more fun.
Rob has been fortunate enough to land some beauties like a 16.75kg kingie on 6kg mono from the mighty ninety mile beach as well as solid snapper up to 6.75kg and trevally up to 6.5kg. He has also fished many of our areas rockfishing ledges, catching snapper up to 7.4kg and kingfish to 15kg.
Locally he has been in the fishing retail industry for over 14 years providing great service and sales support for customers. Rob has a wealth of information about all styles of fishing from surf to big game and everything in between, and looks forward meeting you when you call in to see us at Whakatane Hunting and Fishing.
After dedicating 19 years to build up Whakatane Hunting & Fishing, owner Alan Keys has decided the time is right to step aside and let someone with fresh new ideas and enthusiasm run the business.
Alan's main passion is hunting. Gamebirds, deer, pigs, goats, possums and varmint shooting are all eagerly pursued.
He has used practically every major brand of firearm giving him a vast experience base to draw from.
Alan is also a very experienced angler having landed a lot of respectable yellow fin tuna and a very nice blue marlin.
He can also be found surf casting or long lining for snapper or dragging a net for flounder.
Born and bread in the Bay, Max started trout fishing the Tarawera River 50 years ago. Started hunting Rotoma and Tarawera Valley 45 years ago with an old Bent Barrel .303 rifle.
Max spent his younger years as a Diesel Mechanic then the Motor Trade in sales. He started his own Sporting shop called Alamo Hunting & Fishing 30 years ago. Servicing and repairing Guns, Rods, Reels and Rod making.
He has been in the Associated clubs where his interests lie, Pistol Club, Trout Club, Small bore, Archery and Golf.
Camping outdoors is a favorite when trout fishing in the surrounding lakes and rivers, where over the years has helped gain knowledge in which Max loves to share with anyone who wants to know.
See you in the water or at Whakatane Hunting & Fishing.
Steve grew up in the Bay and has a lifelong passion for the outdoors therefore has plenty of local knowledge to pass on to customers.
After a stint away, he returned with his family so they too can enjoy all the Bay has to offer.
Steve takes car of the hunting department but also has plenty of fishing advice to share. He has just recently completed his open water dive ticket. Being part of the team at Whakatane Hunting & Fishing NZ is his dream job.
Tim stepped into the Manager position at Whakatane Hunting & Fishing back in August 2010. He is a high achiever with a background in motorcycling. In fact previously he had managed the local Honda dealership for 5 years, and is a qualified motorcycle mechanic. Tim excelled at offroad motorcycle enduro riding, competing at the highest level, winning a National title as well as representing New Zealand overseas where he won international gold and silver medals. But then he discovered pig hunting - and has been hooked ever since! When not at work now, he can be found out in the bush with his dogs catching pigs, or with his wife Allie stalking deer or jigging for kingfish.
Allie works mainly behind the scenes as the stock controller. In fact she has been with us longer than husband Tim - she began in August 2009. Allie has always enjoyed fishing, but now has developed a new interest in rifles and has become accomplished at deer stalking - even if Tim does insist that if she shoots it, she carries it home!
Jannette has only recently joined the team but with 4 years of outdoor retail experience in another local business, she has proven to be a great asset already with a wealth of knowledge to pass on.
Her primary responsibility is managing the stores magnificent outdoor clothing department. She has extensive knowledge when it comes to fitting boots and recommending the appropriate outdoor clothing. Jannette is a keen kayak fisher, scuba diver, in fact just loves to be out on the water. She is very accomplished when it comes to fishing, so it's no surprise that she has taken out many competition wins.
