Caleb Martin on right (Hutt Valley Hunting & Fishing NZ) using a Leupold VXIII 2.5-8x36 with a Leupold alumina flip-up lens cap.  On the left is Sam O'leary and his Browning A-bolt in 7mm08 with a Leupold VXI in 3-9x40, again with a Leupold Alumina flip-up lens cap.
 
They camped in the Tararua ranges for 4 days just above the bushline.  We shot this yound hind after watching her for about 45 minutes to make sure she didn't have a young one with her.  We were rained on, hailed on, blown around by the wind and then got sunburnt.  The rifles got back home in a heck of a state, yet flip the caps open on the Leupold's and they were still crystal clear, bright and ready for work.
