Jetboil Personal Cooking System

Hunters and fisherman are by nature gear freaks. We are always looking for a new "toy". Something a little different maybe, and we respect innovation. Twelve months ago I was shown the Jetboil personal cooking system by a company rep and immediately took a liking to this product. Jetboil is a unique cooking system that is essentially a hard anodized aluminum vessel which can hold up to a liter of water which fits snuggly to it's auto ignition gas burner/cooker system. What makes Jetboil so good however is the flux ring at the base of the vessel which spreads the heat from the burner evenly, maximizing the heating potential. This aids heating efficiency two fold. Firstly the heat from the cooker is evenly spread over a greater surface area and secondly the flux rings reduce the impact wind can have on the flame while operating. The Jetboil vessel has a neoprene sleeve around it for insulation plus a lid with a drinking spout/pourer both of which further help to maximize the heating potential of this cooking system.

Jetboil will boil two cups of water in two minutes and has revolutionized my options in the back country. I now find it better to carry a Jetboil on the river when I am guiding fishermen than to carry around the weight of a flask. I've had a lot of hunting success when fly camping so now when I do an overnight hunt I take the Jetboil, a Back County Cuisine freeze dry meal for dinner, plus some oatmeal for breakfast. Jetboil only weighs around 400gr and I have never before been able to get my packed gear weight down as light and compact as I can now - while still enjoying the luxury of carrying a cooker and pot!

Accessories for the Jetboil system include a handy Pot Support and Stabilizer which enables the use of most types of billies. Jetboil also offer a 1.5 litre pot with flux ring and a coffee plunger which fits directly on. Jetboil is a new generation precision made outdoor appliance utilizing high tech materials and energy efficient modern design. At first glance it may seem expensive but 12 months on my Jetboil is one bit of kit I've never regretted investing in. Jetboil is one of the first items I'll throw in my pack, perfect to whip up a brew or cook a quick feed when traveling light!
