Christchurch Store Expansion / Relocation

Imagine a 1000sqm outdoors Super Store handy to central city arterials for acess, its own free car park, a custom fit-out featuring jet-boats and other iconic Canterbury memorabilia, the South Islands biggest selection of hunting, fishing, camping and tramping equipment under one roof, prices and exclusives that are the result of belonging to a group with 30 store buying power, a team of dedicated and experienced staff, and 7 days a week shopping convenience.  Well Cameron Moore had imagnined it ever since he purchased the Hunting & Fishing New Zealand franchise for Canterbury (Ballinger's) back in 2008.  Now he's done it!

 

Ballingers became a Christchurch institution over 50 years ago when first established in Victoria Street.  Opened in 1958, Ballingers is Canterbury's longeset established gun/outdoors store.  In 1993 Ballingers joined Hunting & Fishing New Zealand, invested in a comprehensive fishing department, and relocated into Montreal Street.  Now Cameron has expanded this great business into premises four times larger.  To create a shopping experience unique to Christchurch Cameron first visited the USA twice to get the latest in shop fit-out ideas, hired some of the most experienced designers and builders in the industry, has utilised over 10,000 linear metres of macrocarpa, in fact to creat a unique shopping experience, he has invested several hundred thousand dollars in this project.  Cameron has friends who can be described as Canterbury identities, and he was pleased to use their help to achieve a store layout that would have a local flavour.  Finally Cameron brought his experienced team from the old Montreal Street shop, and now he's ready to unveil the store that truly does justice to the awesome Canterbury outdoors resource and lifestyle.

 

Campers and Trampers in particular will be pleased to know that the store has a large area dedicated to camping and has been appointed as a Coleman Pro Camping Shop.  From tents to utensils this store is out to become Christchurch's preferred camping store.  Of course, having four times the space means that the selection of gear on offer in the fishing and shooting departments has also been expanded.

 

EASY TO FIND - just turn into Whiteleigh Ave, behind Tower Junction.  You'll find us in the old Swanndri building adjacent to the Speights Ale House.
