Selection, service and satisfaction. Those are three very simple principles we at Fly and Gun Taupo Hunting & Fishing New Zealand try to adhere to. Being the largest outdoor store in Taupo we try to continually run a huge product range in store. Our philosophy is to stock the latest and greatest products at the best prices we can. Service is a top priority. We want every person who comes into store to walk out having had a pleasant shopping experience. Key to this of course is having staff who have the knowledge and professionalism to assist and where asked pass on their expertise to customers in any given outdoor field. The staff at Fly and Gun Taupo Hunting & Fishing New Zealand don't just "talk the talk', they do "walk the walk” as well. We have very knowledgeable staff covering all aspects of hunting and fishing.
The end of January every year is big brown trout time in the Taupo district. These large brownies start their spawning runs during late January/Febuary. Areas that consistently produce the big ones during this time are The Waitahunui Rip, Waihora and Waihaha in the Western Bays and of course the Tongariro river. Some exceptional catches have been reported this summer as well as some heart breaking stories of the big one that got away. Lake Otamangakau has also fished exceptionally well this year and has produced some very good fish. It is cicada time up there currently and the action is hot.

At Fly & Gun Hunting & Fishing New Zealand Taupo we are fortunate enough to have two fly fishing gurus, Gary Lyttle and Andrew Shuster. These guys live to fish.
They both moved to New Zealand because of their passion for fly fishing. Gary is an Englishman (now a naturalised NZ citizen) and has already fished on the NZ Fly Fishing Team.
Andrew has moved to New Zealand from the USA and has fallen in love with our country and of course our exceptional fly fishing.
