Fish Hooch

When it comes to attracting fish into the zone you are fishing, and then getting them worked up enough to feed, especially if they are not particularly hungry, has become a science and has spawned an industry in itself. Over the past couple of seasons we have been trialing one of the new options out there with considerable success. We've nick-named it 'Fish Hooch', a tongue in check reminder that fish go crazy for it and that it is a by-product of the hemp fibre industry.
Just what's in it that turns fish on, we are not sure! But whether used on its own or mixed in with a more conventional berley brew 'Fish Hooch' is amazing. In fact when using it we've caught snapper that have pigged out on it prior to hooking up, but for the ultimate observation test (seeing is believing) we dispensed a little into a local saltwater aquarium, which shall remain un-named, and were impressed at what happened next!
Fish Hooch is sold in 1kg and 5kg heavy duty foil bags. It's a dried long-life product and therefore needs no refrigeration and could be stored in your boat all season with no ill effects. We suggest simply popping the 1kg pack in a berley dispenser like the Wobbly Berley Pot and stabbing the sides of the bag just prior to lowering it a few meters off the back of the boat. Jiggle the pot from time to time. Unlike some other berley, Fish Hooch sinks which is an advantage in terms of bringing fish to where your bait is.
Fish Hooch is exclusive to Hunting & Fishing New Zealand stores and as a no-mess answer to the hassle of having a supply of good berley instantly available we recommend it.
