Weatherby Suppressed!

By Cameron Moore | 18 November 2008

Master Riflesmith Robbie Tiffen's company Gunworks Canterbury was chosen to supply and fit sound suppressors to Weatherby Vanguard Rifles as Gunworks leads the centrefire sound Suppressor market in NZ having first developed the over/barrel screw on suppressor concept in the early 90's. Gunworks suppressors are manufactured by combining stainless steel internals for longevity with alloy casing for light weight. A gunworks suppressor has a life expectancy of 16,000 rounds, yet weighs only around 500grms. Weatherby Compact rifles in .223, .243, 7mm08 and .308 with their 20" barrels are perfect for suppressing.

Every Hunting & Fishing New Zealand store has put ready to go suppressed Weatherby rifles on their gun racks. Longer barreled Weatherby's in many other calibers can also be suppressed although Gunworks recommends shortening the barrel to maintain its balance. Gunworks suppressors have a 2 point mount and are impossible to knock out of alignment (as may happen with barrel forward cans). Check out a suppressed Weatherby instore soon and be impressed that the high quality Gunworks suppressor does not affect balance.
