Season Dates....
The whitebait fishing season opened on the 15 August and runs until November 30 2011 apart from the on the West Coast, South Island, where it runs from 1 September until 14 November 2011.
Gear Checklist
NETS
Check out your local Hunting & Fishing New Zealand Store (not all of our shops have the room to stock whitebait nets and gear) so check out the selection in our online shop and we'll arrange delivery of your purchase to your home or work.
NETTING MATERIAL
From Alloy, English Ulstron or Kiwi Netting, our ‘whitebaiting' stores carry bulk rolls of netting for repairs or replacements. Enquire in-store.
WADERS
From easy to walk in Denier Nylon to Toastie Neoprene, check out the Snowbee range or the Riverworks selection in store or online.
POLARIsED EYEWEAR
Glasses designed with specially tinted lenses to cut the maximum surface glare are now available in stylish frame shapes meaning your fishing / whitebaiting eyewear can also be worn as driving glasses, for watching sport, looking good at the beach etc. The Shimano brand needs no introduction to anglers, but did you realise fashion brands like Bolle make fishing glasses, or that there are ‘Fit-Over' polarised lenses – glasses that can be worn over the top of prescription glasses etc . Stores also stock CDX Eyewear and Dirty Dog Polarised options.
ACCESSORIES
Participating stores in whitebaiting areas carry screens, bucket stands, go-by's, etc.
