Ashburton Store - The most spectacular shop fit-out in town

We took the needs of Mid Canterbury folk seriously when we opened our newest store in Ashburton. We sympathised that your passion for the outdoors had been insulted long enough prior to us opening back in July. Immediately the store was being hailed as the most spectacular shop fit out in Ashburton, and that's just the start of what this new enterprise brings. Next is the huge selection of equipment including brands like Sage Fly Rods and exclusive CD Rods. For the hunter the store has a beautifully displayed selection of over 150 firearms, and with so many accomplished Tahr hunters in the region, a big investment has been made in the optics selection with brands like Zeiss, Swarovski, Leica, Steiner, Leupold, Burris, Bushnell and more.
Of course with Hunting & Fishing New Zealand, it's not just the stock selection which leads the industry; it's the low pricing that comes with the best (28 store) buying power in the country. In fact when it comes to rod and reel combos for example, we guarantee NZ's lowest prices, (see page 2 of our Spring 09 catalogue for details).
Behind such an outstanding store there has to be people with the drive to bring such a unique asset to the regions hunters, anglers and campers. This is very much the case, in fact the people involved are the greatest asset of all. Firstly there is the Co-owner / Manager Dean (Deano) Officer who is Ashburton born and bred. Since casting his first line into Mill Creek as a 4 year old, Deano has gone on to pursue a lifetime of hunting and fishing all over NZ. His career background has groomed him for going into business himself, and his last position was as South Island representative for a leading fishing tackle company. Deano is just one of a team that not only brims with local knowledge, but knows equipment, and is hell bent on providing customers with the best service possible.
Equally responsible for the vision and high standards of the Ashburton store is the other Co-owner and franchise holder Cameron Moore. When Cameron purchased Ballingers Hunting & Fishing New Zealand 2 years ago, with it came the opportunity to do joint ventures in the wider Canterbury and West Coast regions. Timaru was first when Thai Ong joined the franchise followed now by Ashburton, leaving only the Coast screaming for the right store in the right place! Cameron toiled tirelessly with Deano for over 3 months on the store build project, and now bases himself in Ashburton for several days per week as the store and staff get up to speed.
The team is complimented by Matt Lewis, Kelley Duncan and Ken Dickenson, all experienced and equally passionate about the outdoors.
