Click that Itch

By Cameron Moore, H&F Christchurch | 26 November 2009

Insect bites and itching are just as common on summer holidays as BBQs and Tomato Sauce, and over the years I have tried all sorts of potions of manufactured creams, sprays, pills, not to mention old wives tails of vinegar or sugar - with no relief. Enter Click that Itch, and as the name suggests this discrete little device promises to relieve the swelling and the itching for everything from Mosquitos to Midgies, and Jellyfish stings.

I first became aware that this product existed when a group from Hunting & Fishing New Zealand embarked on a week-long charter boat adventure through Fiordland and across to Stewart Island last summer. We had been warned about the sandflies but nothing had really prepared us for their size, number and appetite! The skipper and deckie advised that 'you'll be needing these'. At first I was somewhat dubious, particularly as it involves sending a small Piezo-electrical charge (apparently produced by compression of quartz crystals) through my skin! However there is no pain, just relief! The guys on the trip found them so revolutionary that they went on to locate the importer (based out of Wanaka - funny that!) and convince other Hunting & Fishing New Zealand store owners that that this is a must have product. Something our customers will really appreciate us stocking this summer.

Of course I have now introduced my family to Click that Itch and as the device is so in-expensive, we have them located in the house, the car, the boat etc. Even my 5 year old son finds the treatment effective and painless, and for kids the best thing is it is fun to use! Whether on a picnic or outing to the beach or river, the 'clicker' as it has become affectionately known, is passed around at the first indication of an itch. At first of course the kids found it rather amusing chasing each other with it, now they respect it for the relief it brings. Before you get concerned, the device is perfectly safe to use on children and is a great chemical free treatment on bites that could otherwise make life pretty miserable for the little ones.

Congratulations on a true, 'does what it says' product and I will be recommending the little 'Click that Itch' to all my friends and customers, and it will be one of the first things packed when it comes to heading outdoors this summer.
